Switch to the Most Accurate Global Forecast Model

Available to every Windy user, meteoblue AI (the meteoblue Learning MultiModel, or mLM) is the most accurate forecast we offer, and the one we'd recommend you switch to. Instead of relying on a single weather model, it blends up to 40 of them with live observations and machine learning refined over years of testing. 

A 2025 verification study of the model across more than 30,000 stations worldwide found it improved precipitation forecast accuracy by over 20% compared to any single model, and it keeps getting better.

This is validated openly and on an ongoing basis. You can review the accuracy validation of the meteoblue mLM model in meteoblue's monthly verification reports, which continuously compare it against other models.

meteoblue AI is available only as a location forecast for a specific place and cannot be projected onto a map. This is due to real-time recalculations that run in the background as data is gathered from all the weather models, weather radar, and the nearest weather stations for your location.

Feels Like Temperature

One number for how the air really feels

The thermometer only tells half the story: humidity can make a warm day feel punishing, and wind can make a cold one cut right through you. Feels Like Temperature captures that in a single number, so you know how to dress and when to push before you step outside.
Windy applies the factor that matters most at a given temperature. Above 26°C, it uses the heat index, which accounts for humidity: humid air slows sweat evaporation and makes the heat feel more intense. Below 11°C, it uses wind chill, which accounts for wind stripping warmth from your skin. Between 11°C and 26°C, neither has a significant effect, so Feels Like Temperature matches the forecasted air temperature.

Forecast Predictability

See how much to trust each day

A forecast that says "25°C, cloudy, no rain on Wednesday" sounds perfect, but how sure can you be it won't change? Predictability answers that. The forecast may stay the same, but knowing how much to trust it changes the decisions you make.

With the new version, Windy.com shows you predictability in the location forecast as coloured dots next to each day:

• 🟢 Green: the forecast is reliable
• 🟡 Yellow: some uncertainty
• 🟠 Orange: growing uncertainty
• 🔴 Red: the forecast is likely to change

Find it in the top area of the location forecast detail.

Choose Your Default Forecast with Windy Premium

Your favourite view, every time you open the app

Built for anyone tired of switching views every time they check the forecast. Windy Premium users can now set a default forecast model and view (basic, meteogram, or waves) with 1-hour resolution instead of the standard 3-hour steps.

Find it in the location forecast settings.

Compare Forecasts for Clouds and Waves

Comparing forecast models used to mean sticking to the basic view. Now you can compare weather meteograms ("Clouds, rain") and waves, too, so you can see where models agree and where they don't, whatever forecast you rely on.

On desktop, find "Compare forecasts" in the "Source" section of the location forecast. On mobile, tap any down arrow to open the extended menu, then choose "Compare forecasts".

Icing and Clear Air Turbulence (CAT)

Built for pilots planning IFR and VFR routes

Until now, checking icing and clear air turbulence along a route meant sliding through flight levels one by one and mentally stitching the picture together. The Icing and Clear Air Turbulence layers now come with a flight level range selector, so you set the range you'll actually be flying and see conditions across your whole route at once.

Find both layers in the "Clouds, aviation" section of the menu, with a flight-level selector automatically available.

Fire Danger, Updated Every Hour

Built for anyone watching wildfire risk this season. The Fire Danger layer now updates data every hour instead of once a day, with wind particles showing how fire risk could spread.

Developed by CzechGlobe, the layer rates the potential for a wildfire to start and spread across six levels, from Very low to Extreme, using the Fire Weather Index (temperature, humidity, wind, and precipitation) calibrated for local vegetation and climate.

Radar Returns to the Balearic Islands

Radar coverage is back for Mallorca and Menorca, so sailors, pilots, and anyone island hopping this summer can track approaching rain and storms in real time again.

Android: A Lighter App

We've trimmed the size of the Android app, so it downloads faster and takes up less space on your phone, with no features lost.

Garmin: More Devices and a Fix

Windy on Garmin got some love too. We've expanded the range of supported devices, including the MARQ™ Captain models, and fixed a dark mode issue in the Data Field.
