Tropical cyclone Yaas has reached the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane in the last 24 hours and continues to strengthen.

Maximum winds have gone up to 120 km/h (65 kt) and should remain at this intensify near the time of landfall.

Landfall itself is forecasted to take place between Paradip and Sagar islands on the north Odisha to West Bengal coasts during midday on Wednesday local time.
